craft book month

Craft Book Month at Craft Buds

september is craft book month over at craft buds, and i decided to enter my wee woodlands quilt in their contest.  i made this quilt using a pattern from the book jelly roll quilts by pam and nicky lintott:

the sparkling gemstones pattern uses jelly roll strips and smaller strips of fabric.  i cut my background pieces from kona yardage, and i really like how the fall colors glow against the deep brown.  but i also like the one in the book with white sashing!

i backed it with leftover blocks and wee woodlands yardage, and then used a dotty print for the binding.

sandy miller in ottawa, ks did the longarm stippling for me, and she did a wonderful job!  this project took me awhile - i finished the piecing last november.  got it quilted this summer. and finally finished the binding.  honestly, if not for this contest, it wouldn't be done - so thanks to craft buds for the kick in the pants!

the fabrics are moda wee woodlands, really fun prints with animals, trees, and flowers.  some of the fabrics are still available if you look online.  and i think i saw some at sarah's fabrics in lawrence ks.

there are several other projects in the book i'd like to make, and i do happen to have a moda coquette jelly roll hanging about...

you can enter your own book inspired project now through september 30th at craft buds. go read the rules and add your link! they have some fabulous prizes up for grabs!
