my mini quilt and some blocks

i shared about our mini quilt swap last week, and i wanted to show you what i received from furbette!  isn't it awesome?!  i hung it right above my ironing station.  i love it.  the colors, FMF, the dotty binding, it's just perfect.

then last saturday i took a class through the KCMQG on free motion quilting.  it was taught by tia curtis, who is a fabulous teacher & quilter!  she's funny, interesting, and really knows her stuff. and she had some amazing quilts to share.  wish i'd taken some pics, sorry!

first she walked us through different designs, and then we practiced on a small FQ sandwich that will eventually become a box bag.  i say eventually because i want to take out some of my practice stitches and redo them.

i still suck at FMQ but i can tell i will get better with some practice.  at least i'm not scared of it anymore.  i do tend to freak out and then my stitches get jerky.  also, i didn't seem to be able to stick with any one design at a time.  ah well.  practice makes perfect!

but now, back to regular stitching.  i have blocks to finish for bee vintage, but i did get my blocks for inspire done.  japanese x + y blocks:

those are fun scrap buster blocks.  which is something we can all use, right?!

I finally just let go on my FMQ and decided that I have my own style and it's okay! I love seeing FMQ like the one in your post and I love your blocks. Such freedom in using fabrics! That mini quilt is perfect for above your pressing station!
