play ball!

we spent the weekend at our annual softball tournament.  this year was the 25th year of the tournament, which is bittersweet - because it's a memorial tournament for my husband's father, who passed away when troy was a kid.  it's truly a family event, with cousins playing ball against cousins, and lots of kids running around.  it's sponsored by the knights of columbus, and we look forward to it all year.

last year i got the idea that we should make a t-shirt quilt to give to their mom, and everyone else thought it would be great.  so everyone dug through their closets and we were able to come up with each year's shirts.  it was harder than i thought it would be, 22 years is a long time to keep a shirt!  the first 3 years they didn't make shirts, so my sis-in-law, jessi, who owns j graphics, made a shirt for that.  and then we used the back of one of the shirts for a block for all of us to sign.

she seemed really happy with it, and we hung it up for everyone to see during the tournament.  one of jessi's friend's mom made the entire quilt for us (i didn't want to take on such a large and important project) and she did a fantastic job.  i love the striped sashing.  the back is a solid gray.

jessi, jade, amy, wendy, troy
we had a great time, as always.  lots of laughter, trash talk, BBQ, and beer drinking fun.  can't wait til next year!  by then, maybe i won't be so sore...
